Colouring on Mom

It’s worth it if you’re tired enough.

This is an activity I only use when I’m at my most tired. The kind of tired where I grab a large stuffed animal to use as a pillow, and lie on the floor in the playroom. Sometimes my kids will play while I lie there, but mostly they still want to interact with me. This is a mix of both interacting, and just lying there. Basically, I let my kids colour on me with washable marker.

I like to start with my back, because I can easily cover that with my shirt when they’re done. I mean, come one, if I’m this tired, there’s no way I have the energy to wash it off right away, or even that day.

Then I let them move on to my stomach and feet, which can also be covered, easily.

Then move onto themselves.

Warning: I have found that even washable marker does not fully wash off skin with soap and water. Usually it takes more than a day to wash away, so I would stay away from the face or other areas you might present to the public. I can tell you though, that if you’re child walks in and says, “I accidentally coloured on my face with pen,” coconut oil will get it right off.

Side note: In university, an engineering student, at a pub crawl (who had a permanent marker mustache) said casually, “It can be washed off by any bipolar solvent.” Turns out that means nail polish remover. As my dad always says, four years of engineering has to be good for something!
