Because it’s fun to burst your bubble.
It’s summertime now, which means it’s bubble season. But let’s face it. Little kids aren’t that good at blowing bubbles. And the bubbles don’t stay around that long. I have bought three different types of bubble machines (because they fascinate me) and they all stopped working well after the first few times. Today my kids were in the middle of struggling to create giant bubbles (even I wasn’t successful) when I remembered a device my mom made for us during the pandemic.
Here it is, in all it’s glory:

But here’s what it lets you do:

You can make bubble snakes, bubble piles or bubble handfuls. You can poke at bubbles, stomp on bubbles, and apparently try to give them to your dog. The bubbles stayed around for a while instead of popping and sparkled in the sun, like a faceted diamond. Both children had an easy time using the blower and went back to use it again and again.
Here’s how to make it (if it wasn’t obvious):
Cut off the end of a bottle

Slide a sock onto it.

Secure the end with an elastic for proper airflow.

That’s it. Then just enjoy.
