Making Hospital Time a Little Easier.
This care package was a team effort for a friend who has been visiting a relative in the hospital. I think this package could work equally well for someone who was a hospital patient.

Ingredients
- Something to Do While You Sit There: There is so much waiting in hospitals, whether you’re the patient, or the patient’s visitor. You just need something to do aside from staring at your phone. A magazine and some sort of activity book work well to pass the time. The magazine and activity will vary based on interests (e.g. Colouring Book, Sudoku, Crossword, Joke Book, Uncle John’s Bathroom Reader, etc.).
- Snacks: Whether you’re doing a long drive to a hospital or just trying to survive hospital food, snacks are helpful. These snacks were specifically chosen for the keto diet, but you can tailor it to the person. I like to put in snacks that are both enjoyable, and more sustaining than the vending machine. I included homemade keto peanut butter cookies, divided up into sandwich bags so that individual portions could be easily grabbed from the freezer.
- Things for When Someone is Strapped for Time: When you are stressed, on demand, and away from home, you may not have time to shower and brush your teeth as much as you normally do. That’s why we included mint gum and dry shampoo. I sometimes like to include some natural face wipes as well. I found those helpful when I had little babies and not much time to shower.
- A Playlist: I miss mix-tapes and mix-CDs! Handing someone a CD, made just for them, felt so special. I still listen to my old mix CDs in my 2004 Mini-Van. But these days cars aren’t made with CD players, and people use their phones for music, so we made our friend a Spotify playlist. You cannot see it in the picture, of course, but our hope is that is makes the long drive go by more easily.
