Why Didn’t I Think of this Before?
What’s More Fun Than Helium Balloons?
Balloons attached to Monster Trucks!!!
The other day, I resorted to my normal winter fallback of buying helium balloons. But this time we attached them to monster trucks! It kept the balloons low enough that the kids could reach them, and it let the kids zoom them around the house. (It also let me get some dishes done).

But don’t underestimate the fun of just running in circles with a balloon tied to your waist.

What About Regular Balloons?
- Rub the balloon on your head and stick it to the wall with static electricity! I used to do that all the time as a kid!

- Blow up a balloon and put it against a kid’s tummy so that, as the air comes out, it stays on their tummy without holding it (Newton’s Third Law).

- Blow up balloons or medical gloves and draw different facial expressions. I like using gloves because the fingers look like their hair.

My kids can do this over and over again. If there are only two children, sometimes we let one blow out the match and the other blow out the candle, then switch on the next turn.
Note: I often take down the closest smoke detector before doing this game. Blowing out candles over and over can create some amount of smoke.
Finally: Put the matches and candles away up high so kids aren’t tempted to play with them alone!
Note: Make sure to break up the skewers before throwing them out, or you will end up with a hole in the bag and garbage water all over the bottom of your garbage bin.
